- He’s a mama’s boy. His mom, Illeana Lochte tells Us Weekly the bachelor is too busy to date and, “He’s so warmhearted that I don’t think he’d want to have a relationship with somebody [right now].”
- He makes phone calls to this fans. He wrote this on his blog on July 19: “I woke up this morning and thought why not call someone from LOCHTE NATION!! I have had such great fan support that I just felt it would be fun to actually talk to one of my fans. - The six foot two inch champion swimmer is a humble cover model. He’s shirtless on the cover of Vogue and Time. He’s one of the faces of Gillette, Ralph Lauren and Gatorade. He’s been pitted against super athlete Mike Phelps, but his attitude is “If I beat him, I beat him. If I don’t, I don’t.” On Saturday he beat Phelps in the 40o IM; Phelps came in fourth.
- The 27-year-old is sad he’s missing his high school reunion for the Olympics. He tweeted, “Missing my 10 year reunion for high school this weekend. Time flys
but I guess it’s okay this time
” - He’s a serious athlete. “I am not walking in opening ceremony because I swim in the morning. Gotta rest. I’m ready!” he tweeted Friday night. When he won his first gold medal of these games, he also showed off his red, white and blue diamond grill-encrusted grills, showing he’s also serious about his US pride.
