RumorFix has learned that TV icon Andy Griffith has already been laid to rest, just hours after passing away at the age of 86. A spokesperson at the Twiford Funeral Homes in Manteo, North Carolina tells RumorFix that Griffith’s body was prepared for burial at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning.

Andy’s widowed wife Cindi Knight and a “close circle of friends” attended the wake. The funeral home spokesmen adds that people in the community are “very sad” about Andy’s passing, saying he was still very active and could be seen around town often.
RumorFix is also told another larger ceremony might take place at a later date, but Griffith wanted to be put to rest immediately after his death.
