American Idol casting rumors are heating up, and one of those rumors involves former Idol contestant Adam Lambert joining the panel of judges. Lambert addressed the rumors for the first time during a radio interview on Monday with British radio station Capital FM.

“I’m just hearing about this today as well and so what a beautiful rumor,” Lambert revealed. “Listen, if — and I say ‘if’ with a capital I-F — if they were to approach me and if they were to say, ‘We want you to be a judge on the show,’ I would love that. I would jump at the chance.”

The singer released a statement on Monday reiterating that sentiment:

“Idol has an amazing history of introducing great musical talent, and I was very fortunate to have had the Idol stage play a big part in my career,” the statement read. “IF Idol wants to talk to me about judging, I’d be more than flattered to have that conversation.”

Lambert might not have the job, but he’s definitely campaigning for it.
