After only five years of marriage, Katie Holmes has filed for divorce from Tom Cruise. And the Mission Impossible star is heart broken.
A rep for the father-of-three released a statement to RumorFix confirming the divorce:
“Kate has filed for divorce and Tom is deeply saddened and is concentrating on his three children. Please allow them their privacy to work this out.”
There are reports that Tom was “blindsided” by the divorce although there were rumors their marriage was in crisis, because the couple hadn’t been seen together in months.
- The last time the couple was photographed together was on February 26, 2012 at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party.
- They were reportedly seen side by side on April 1.
- Katie was solo at the openings of her films The Extra Man and Jack & Jill.
- Tom was solo at the premieres of Rock of Ages and June 12 when he accepted the Friar Club’s Entertainment Icon Award.
This is Cruise’s third divorce and the first for Holmes. The couple has a 6-year old daughter together, Suri Cruise. Tom also has two children from his previous marriage to Nicole Kidman.
