RumorFix has learned that GMA anchor Robin Roberts has been diagnosed with Myelodysplastic Syndrome, a rare blood disorder.
Roberts, who overcame a battle with breast cancer five years ago, revealed the emotional news on Monday’s show. ”Sometimes treatment from cancer can lead to other serious medical issues and that’s what I’m facing right now,” Roberts shared in a tearful moment.
“The reason I am sharing this with everybody right now is because later today I begin pre-treatment,” she said. A tube will be added to her arm on Monday afternoon which will make giving blood and receiving drugs easier. ”I didn’t want you to be concerned if you saw [the tube] there tomorrow,” she added.
“Five years ago I beat breast cancer, and I’ve always been a fighter. It’s about focusing on the fight, not the fright [and] I am going to beat this,” Roberts declared.
Myelodysplastic Syndrome is a rare blood disorder that affects the blood marrow.
