EXCLUSIVE: Vicki Gunvalson Triggers Fury Over Fur Coat

On Tuesday night’s episode of Real Housewives of Orange County, Vicki Gunvalson bragged about the new mink coat that Brooks Ayers bought her.

But, animal rights activists say the reality star has a “disconnect from reality.”

PETA tells us they are sending Vicki information and a video expose of the fur industry narrated by fashion guru and fellow Bravolebrity Tim Gunn. “Vicki seems to be a sensitive person … We hope Vicki will decide that her ‘love tank’ has room for animals and will donate the fur coat to PETA to be used in one of our anti-fur campaigns,” PETA’s rep tells RumorFix.

In Defense of Animals, tells RumorFix, “Although they appear on a ‘reality’ show, for the women of Real Housewives of Orange County to think that wearing the dead body parts of abused animals is glamorous, or something to brag about, is a real disconnect from reality.”

International Anti-Fur Coalition echoes the comments saying they hope “Vicki Gunvalson can open her heart and mind to acknowledge that her fur coat is worth nothing but pain and cruelty. So many minks had to be killed in the name of greed, vanity, sick and twisted fashion. Anti-Fur bills are introduced worldwide: two cities in Ireland and West Hollywood already became the first free cities in the world. Israel might also be the first country in the world to outlaw fur importation and sales. Fur is worn by beautiful animals and ugly people”.

RumorFix reached out to Vicki for comment, but haven’t heard back from her yet.

    Vicki made a statement how PETA opened her eyes and she would never wear fur again. On the reunion she defended her need for a fur coat in the OC(everyone else was in sleeveless dresses) and never said a word about how fur harms animals. A missed opportunity to voice her concern for. What a hypocrite.

    Amen to that! If we are not wearing the animal-we are eating it. Obviously minks are not endangered because millions of fur coats are made daily! If it were an issue it would be written in the holy scriptures. I never read Jesus teaching against wearing lavish clothing. As a matter of fact Esther, Bathsheba and other Old Testament women donned themselves in expensive clothing and jewels!

  People don’t like for the government to tell them what to do, for example the health insurance debate, and yet PETA thinks they can expect others to share their views. PETA and animal rights activists basically harass those who believe otherwise. If we were to put more money and attention to PEOPLE in need, we would be a better nation. If I were to get harassed by these groups I would be quick to sue. We still live in a democratic society people and need to respect other’s views and wants, as they differ with each Person.

The U.K. banned fur farms because they are cruel unethical inhumane and wrong. It takes 55 minks to create a fur coat. Have fashion compassion and don’t wear real fur.

I think you should be able to wear fur, if the animal had died of unrelated causes to obtaining their fur, its kind of like being an organ donor that way then everyone is kind of happier.

  um, you need to watch some videos of animals being trapped and then put in cages while they are injured. They also use cats and dogs for fur. They capture them and pack them,one on top of the other like sardines. In tiny wire cages. I am talking about one on top of the other. PUPPIES… CATS! all the while these animals are screaming in fear, pain and agony. They cannot even move, turn around, scratch. ALso, they leave them in there out in the hot sun, until they can skin them alive.

    Omy gosh you saw the pictures and footage like I did, these pictures are in Guangdong China and they are so extremely disturbing. I will never ever for the rest of my life forget the sight of these dogs in crab cages, closely if you look you can see the sadness and fear in their eyes, a German Shephard struggles to find more room as he squeezes his paws outside the cage. Yes people, look at the footage and if you have a human heart you will have compassion. Its not just Minks that are being skinned, beaten, and boiled alive, yes its our beloved dogs and cats as well, many of them are pets with collars on them. China does not have laws that protect these animals, they are in the hands of evil evil men. Go ahead take a look and you will see the real truth why we have PETA, and The United States Human Society and other anti-fur coalitions. So very heartbreaking, but you can do something, sign petitons and help with this cause, please for the animals.

People who care about the rights of animals don’t automatically NOT care about the rights of human beings. Those of you who claim that PETA members and other animal rights activists are not also people activists are completely in denial about their own insecurities. People can care about both other people AND animals. This article is about animals, not poor people, so why should there be information about how PETA and others care about poor people in third-world countries?

  I do not know what planet you live on but here on earth thousands of animals are killed every year and those are the lucky ones. Others are starved beaten skinned shocked and drugged. I agree we need more services for humans in need but I would still opt for being a human rather than an animal dependent on human kindness.

  Vicki is full of contradictions. She made a statement about PETA opening her eyes to the abuse involved with her fur coat and swore never to wear fur again. On the reunion she defended the need for a fur coat in the OC but never said a word about not wearing fur out of concern for animals.

i agree with not wearing fur, but PETA is a disgusting company, killing 98% of the animals they care for, their second in command says its ok for her to take animal insulin but no one else, hiring extremists, etc. hypocrites! so disgusting
