The Internet has killed off another celebrity this week, this time it’s NFL baller Eli Manning.

Unlike some of the past celebrity death rumors gone viral on Twitter, Eli’s story did not involve a car crash in New Mexico or falling off a cliff in New Zealand. What made this story seem a little more believable was the attention to detail in the circumstances surrounding the New York Giants’ rumored passing.
According to mediafetcher.com, “Law enforcement found Manning unresponsive in a 2009 Cadillac Escalade early Tuesday morning at a New York highway rest area. 911 emergency services were dispatched to the rest area where he was pronounced dead. Despite many attempts at CPR, the athlete did not regain consciousness.”
At the bottom of the article, the website also reveals that the story is “dynamically generated using a generic ‘template’ and is not factual,” so why people still believed this story to be true is beyond us.
