
Rumors about Ann Curry’s departure from NBC’s Today have been answered. On Thursday morning, a teary Curry confirmed that she is indeed leaving the show, telling the millions watching, “This is not easy to say, but today is going to be my last morning as a regular co-host on Today. I’m going to have a new title and a new role, and this is not how I expected to leave this show, but I’m so grateful.”

“You have the biggest heart in the business,” Curry’s co-host Matt Lauer told her. “You put that on display every single day for almost 20 years. Most importantly, you’ve made us better, and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”
Curry’s exit comes on the heels of Today dropping to second place in morning show ratings behind Good Morning America for the first time in over 15 years

As she mentioned, Curry will not be leaving NBC. She will continue to work under her new deal, and produce content for NBC Nightly News, Dateline, Rock Center and Today, and will fill in as anchor on NBC Nightly News.
