Glee star Darren Criss is denying a rumor that he turned down a gig to host Simon Cowell’s X Factor next season because he was more interested in being a performer than a talking head.
“I’m happy to say that that was not actually true,” Criss told The Hollywood Reporter on Monday night at the Metropolitan Museum’s Costume Institute Ball. “It was a classic example of people running with something that they didn’t bother to check facts with.”
Criss is not the only celebrity to be hit by the X Factor rumor mill. Gwen Stefani, Demi Lovato, Mariah Carey, Britney Spears and Fergie have all been rumored to be joining the show in some capacity for season two.
