Former Real Housewives of New York star Alex McCord is celebrating 12 years of marriage to Simon Van Kempen this weekend and she only talked to RumorFix about the secrets to their marriage.

Alex and Simon met on the dating website, matchmaker.com, 13 years ago — and they got married one year and one day later.
The 38-year-old former reality star says “He was never going to get married again and I was never going to get married at all.” But, the New York businesswoman said things changed because “we turned each others world’s upside down.”
“One of the things I love about Simon is that we’ve grown and changed — we’ve grown together not apart. And, we never take each other for granted,” she tells RumorFix exclusively.
The key to a happy marriage, she says, “is you need to be partners and you need to make yourself open to that person.”
