Why Dick Clark Was In The Hospital In The First Place

We all know that legendary TV personality Dick Clark died last Wednesday of a heart attack, while in the hospital for another surgery.

Now for the first time, we can tell you what surgery the Golden Globes producer was undergoing.

According to Clark’s death certificate released on Monday, the 82-year-old was having surgery for an enlarged prostate.

“He had very minor prostate surgery,” Congressman David Dreier told Extra. “All of a sudden, he got a feeling in his arm about 9:30 [Wednesday] morning and he was gone by 11:15. It turned out to be a massive heart attack.”

The American Bandstand host was cremated on Friday and there is talk that the family may have a private “invitation only” memorial service at Clark’s Malibu home.
