High-powered attorney Gloria Allred is taking on Donald Trump and his Miss Universe Pageant for discrimination against a transgender contestant, RumorFix has learned.
Jenna Talackova, who advanced to the finals in the Miss Canada competition, was forced out of the Miss Universe competition because she was not “a naturally born female.”
In a 2010 interview the 23-year-0ld said she knew she was a female at age 4 and began hormone therapy at age 14, before undergoing gender reassignment surgery at 19.
A statement from Miss Canada Pageant reads,”She did not meet the requirements to compete despite having stated otherwise on her entry form. We do, however, respect her goals, determination and wish her the best.”
The beauty contestant is getting some unlikely support from FOX commentator Bill O’Reilly, who says, “What right does the Miss Universe pageant have to violate this lady’s right to be a woman? They are basically saying because you weren’t born a woman you don’t have a right to be a woman..[it] doesn’t sound right to me.”
Talackova and Allred will hold a news conference Tuesday morning to discuss why she should compete and what action Allred plans to take in the United States.
UPDATE: Late Monday evening, the Miss Universe Pageant reversed their decision and decided to allow Talackova to compete in the Miss Canada Pageant.
