Russell Brand’s tribute to Apple founder Steve Jobs has landed him in jail. RumorFix has confirmed that the comedian was arrested on Thursday afternoon in New Orleans, and charged with simple criminal damage to property.
The actor is accused of tossing a photographer’s iPhone through the window of a law firm. On Wednesday, Brand joked about the incident on Twitter, writing:
“Since Steve Jobs died, I cannot bear to see anyone use an iPhone irreverently. What I did was a tribute to his memory.”
All jokes aside, a spokesmen for the police department tells RumorFix that Brand is still in custody; his bail has been set at $5,000.
