The actor’s rep released this statement to RumorFix:
“They were protesting the violence committed by the government of Sudan on its own innocent men, women and children. They were demanding they allow humanitarian aid into the country before it becomes the largest humanitarian crisis in the world.”
George wasn’t the only one busted; his father Nick Clooney was also hauled off along with several congressmen and religious leaders.
UPDATE 10:30 a.m. PT: RumorFix just got word that Clooney was arrested without incident and is being charged with “disorderly crossing of a police line,” which is a misdemeanor. He has been transported to the second district police station for processing.
