All In A Name: What’s The Meaning Of Blue Ivy Carter?

Still A Rumor

Now that Beyonce and Jay-Z are proud parents of newborn baby girl Blue Ivy Carter, conspiracy theorists are coming up with all kinds of rumors about what the child’s name means. Many of these people are no doubt members of the same group who have speculated for years that Jay and Beyonce are members of the Illuminati, a rumor that the Brooklyn rapper has laughed off on more than one occasion.

One theory making the rounds online about the infant’s name is that Blue Ivy spelled backwards is Eulb Yvi, which means Lucifer’s daughter. The only problem with this theory – and we’re glad at least someone in this office took a week of Latin before dropping the class – is that Lucifer is already a Latin word, not to mention, there’s no reference to Satan having spawn in the Holy Bible. We guess whatever mastermind drafted this rumor up didn’t do enough research first.

Another rumor, which is more likely, but still only a rumor, is that Blue is named after Jay-Z’s classic albums The Blueprint, The Blueprint 2 and The Blueprint III; Ivy, on the other hand, was selected to represent the roman numeral IV. 4 is the title of Beyonce’s most recent album, not to mention, both Jay-Z and Beyonce were born on the 4th, and were  married on the 4th as well.

Whatever the case, we’re sure the last thing Jay or Beyonce is worried about are rumors concerning the meaning of their child’s name.
