Both Amber Heard and Zachary Quinto came out of the closet in the past year — and the emotions are still raw for both of them.

That’s why they got teary-eyed Sunday night while reading letters and emails from kids who struggled with being gay and tried to take their own lives.

The Playboy Club actress and the Star Trek star appeared at Trevor Live for the Trevor Project at the Palladium in Hollywood.

First Zachary read his letter. Then Amber, obviously affected by the letter, said, “I didn’t expect that. I got my script emailed to me yesterday, but I didn’t know what Zachary was going to say. I’m sorry — give me a minute.”

She then read her letter and had to stop several times to fight back tears.

Afterward, Park and Recreation’s Amy Poehler — acting as announcer and “voice of God” — broke the tension by joking “God wants to have sex with both of you!”
