Dave Chappelle is addressing rumors regarding his July 22 performance in Miami that ended with him being booed off stage. According to witness, Chappelle began arguing with a fan in the audience at the beginning of his show, and then stood on stage for nearly 45 minutes telling only one joke during that time.

Some bloggers claimed Chappelle had a meltdown of sorts, but what’s the real story?
“In Florida … I don’t know what happened. Someone said I melted down, someone said I had a nervous breakdown. I wasn’t nervous at all,” the comedian joked during a radio interview before explaining that it was a row of hecklers that caught him off guard.
“The whole front row starts heckling me and apparently the front row was the Seminole Indians whose casino it was so the security didn’t want to tell them be quiet. If you can imagine trying to talk to someone and they’re talking while you’re talking and holding a camera in your face – I could hear and see everything. At a certain point I was like, ‘You can’t honestly expect me to perform a show here. There has to be some sort of cooperation.’”

The jokester says he believes the hecklers were trying to provoke him into saying or doing something crazy so they could post it on YouTube. Instead of falling for the trap, Chappelle says he just did nothing.
The comedian added that he went back the following night and performed his routine without any problems.
