There’s a battle to get a Persian version of Jersey Shore on the air, RumorFix is reporting.
On Wednesday Bravo announced it has greenlit a show called “Shahs of Sunset” produced by Ryan Seacrest Productions.
The so-called docu-series follows a group of young Persian-American friends who juggle their lives in LA with the demands of family traditions.
The press release states:
“Armed with chromed-out cars, logo-ridden purses and designer outfits, they’ve got it and they’re not afraid to flaunt it. But while these young socialites know how to spend money – they also know the value of family and tradition.”
The show appears similar in tone to a reality show being developed by 495 Productions tentatively called “The Persian Version.”
The casting call for that show went out in April 2010 with this message:
“You’ve got the means, the money, and the motivation to cut through the velvet rope and rule the VIP! For you life is all about Gucci, Gabbana, Cavalli and Cristal. From BMWs and Bugatis, to Mercedes and Movado and money is no object. You live a lifestyle most people only dream of. In your world, nothing is out of reach, and though you are surrounded by the jealous, the posers and the haters, one thing’s for sure…once you go Persian, there is no other version! “
Now the battle is on to see which Persian reality show will hit TV first.
