Russell Brand Says Amy Winehouse’s Voice Had Power & Pain

Russell Brand has just written a thought-provoking blog on Amy Winehouse and addiction, saying her voice was filled with “power and pain,” RumorFix has learned.

Katy Perry’s husband met Amy a few years ago — before she was famous — when he had just gotten out of rehab and a time when he was “thirstily seeking less complicated women.”

He writes that he would bump into her from time to time and have a laugh — then he saw her perform.

He was in awe:

“The awe that envelops when witnessing a genius. From her oddly dainty presence that voice, a voice that seemed not to come from her but from somewhere beyond even Billie [Holiday] and Ella [Fitzgerald], from the font of all greatness. A voice that was filled with such power and pain that it was at once entirely human yet laced with the divine.”

Although Amy’s cause of death is not known yet, Russell writes, “We have lost a beautiful and talented woman to this disease [addiction].”
