When the History Channel shelved The Kennedys, rumors spread that the eight-hour miniseries was too controversial for the network. Some critics even claimed the historical drama wasn't portraying the Kennedy family accurately.

But an insider tells RumorFix, "Who ever said it is too controversial doesn't know what they are talking about. No one has really seen the miniseries, because it was just completed a week ago."

Our source, who has seen all eight episodes, says, "I don't get it. I don't know what all the fuss is about."

The Kennedys does reportedly broach John F. Kennedy's extramarital affairs, but our insider says the show "doesn't delve into them. The door literally closes on them."

Greg Kinnear plays JFK, and Katie Holmes plays his wife, Jackie O. A premiere with the stars in attendance is slated for Monday night. It will be the first time that the cast sees the completed project.

The miniseries is being picked up by upstart network, ReelzChannel, and begins airing April 3.
