Prince William Gives Kate His Mother’s Ring

Kate Middleton is wearing Princess Diana’s engagement ring.

Prince William revealed the news during a photo opportunity Tuesday announcing his engagement:

“Well as you may recognize now, it’s my mother’s engagement ring and its very special to me, as Kate is very special to me now as well. It was only right the two were put together,” William said.

“It was my way of making sure mother didn’t miss out on today and the excitement and the fact that we’re going to spend the rest of our lives together.”

Diana chose the ring after being engaged to Prince Charles in 1981.

The famous ring is a dazzling oval, 18-carat blue sapphire and white diamond ring.
