Jessica Simpson’s engagement was a surprise that former NFL football player Eric Johnson planned for several months, RumorFix has learned.
Eric worked with celebrity jeweler Neil Lane on the ring valued at $100,000. The sparkler has a 4-carat oval-shaped ruby stone rounded by two large pear-shaped diamonds on either side.
A source close to the couple tells RumorFix, “She didn’t expect it, she was totally surprised.”
Since ex-husband Nick Lachey just proposed to his fiancée Vanessa Minillo about a week ago, celebrity blogs are going wild saying there’s a race to the altar, but our source says it’s not true.
“Eric proposed on a day that was special to the couple,” the source says.
