RumorFix can confirm that actor Wesley Snipes has been ordered to surrender to federal authorities to begin a prison sentence for tax related crimes.

The Orlando Sentinel reports that U.S. District Judge Terrell Hodges rejected the actor's wish for a new trial and ordered Snipes begin serving his three-year prison sentence.

"The Defendant Snipes had a fair trial; he has had a full, fair and thorough review of his conviction and sentence by the Court of Appeals; and he has had a full, fair and thorough review of his present claims, during all of which he has remained at liberty. The time has come for the judgment to be enforced," the judge said in his 17-page order.

RumorFix spoke with a representative from the Federal Bureau of Prisons who tells us Snipes is "in transit" to one of their facilities.

RumorFix will continue to update you on this story as soon as additional details become available.
